In this Episode…

During this special case study episode, Valerie shares a conversation with Indiana based photographer Dave Dufour. Dave shares his experience doing street photography at Texas State Fair, dealing with an irate mother and the Dallas police...

"Hi Valerie,
I had a rather bad experience in Texas doing street photography at the Texas State Fair this October, involving me, an irate mother and the Dallas police. I'm wondering if this is something you'd want to discuss on the podcast as a kind of cautionary story. I've learned a couple valuable lessons as a result. [...] Love the podcast!!" Dave Dufour

Dave’s Biography

davedufour.jpg

Dave Dufour is the Executive Director of Elkhart Civic Theatre, community theatre in Northern Indiana. Theatre was a lifelong passion, which became his job about four years ago.  He has also been an avid photographer since receiving his first camera, a Kodak Brownie Starmite, when he was seven years old.  Three and a half years ago, he lost his wife, Michele, to cancer.  As part of his recovery from this loss,  he bought a Canon DSLR and started to travel, first to Paris, then later to Nice, France, to take photographs.  He spent a year studying comedy at The Second City in Chicago, where he also enjoys street photography.  For the theatre Dave takes publicity pictures, as well as performance photos and candids backstage.  His favorite cities for street photography are Paris and Chicago.  Dave plans another trip to France in 2019.
